New Years

As time slowly drips by, and the months fade away into the next, New Years is always something different. I kind of don’t and do get New year. I mean, we don’t have this same response to the end of the month, but the end of the month isn’t the end of the year...but the end of the year isn’t the end of your life. New year is always a massive thought cycle for me. I don’t know if I should make some New Years resolutions just so I can feel I am making a difference to myself (but then feel a little upset when I don’t keep them up) or don’t make resolutions because it’s the end of a year not the end of my life. This year I didn’t make any resolutions, I made plans! (I know what your thinking: aren’t they just resolutions with a different name. Well, no...not exactly) my plans are things that I gotta do, things that I always put to the side because I don’t have the time. Well I will find some time this year, and I’m not going at these plans full speed, I’m chugging along at a gentle pace, because the year isn’t just January and February, it’s the whole darn thing! So her are some of my plans:
* Enter a short story competition: it’s something I’ve always wanted to do, not necessarily to win, but to feel like I’m getting my writing out there.
* Make a decent start to my novel: and by this I mean not start the first 10 chapters then leave it, Then a few months later start the same novel again, keep going with one.
* Get a part time job: I’m a college student and have been trying and failing to get a job for a while now, so I’ve decided this will be the year.
* Get a water bottle: I know some of you will look at me like I’m insane because of this one. Basically I wanna cut down on my use of plastic, and one way of doing that, stop bringing one use bottles with me everywhere.
* Sit down and do some good worth while research into university: I’m in my first year of college, and university is just round the corner, I need to sit down and do some good research (to be honest this one will happen anyway as I kind of need to apply to one by the end of the year anyway)
There are my five plans, small plans, but worthwhile plans. And if I decide in June that I should go on a diet and go to the gym, live a healthy life. I won’t wait until Monday to start it, or the next year to start it. I will start it then and there. I don’t need time to dictate how I live.
