The wrong side

I stared down at the paperwork scattered across my desk. All the health reports, the social interaction updates, the blood monitor stats, they all seemed to blur together to form one big pile of nonsense. I pushed all the loose paper to one side and rested my head on a wad of fresh paper. Today was the day. I couldn’t stand being here any longer. There is only so much nodding and smiling and obeying a person can do.

The day I signed up to work for the company, I thought I was helping the world, that I would be remembered as one of the greats. Oh, how wrong I was. I franticly clicked all the authorisation buttons down the page, each one turning from red to green. When I had finished it was midnight. Instantly four loud explosions went off making the building shake. I shut my eyes as tight as I could.

Shouting, yelling, screaming. It wasn’t until I heard rapid footsteps that I opened my eyes. I opened the draw next to me and pulled out the gun I had in there. I was going to be ready. With a loud thud the door broke down, eight security guards walked in armoured up with guns. With one swift movement the gun in my hand fired and everything went black…
